Singapore

Singapore, officially called the Republic of Singapore, is a small country in Southeast Asia. Singapore consists of one main island and over 60 smaller islands. The capital is Singapore. The icon is Merlion – a mythical creature with the head of a lion and the body of a fish.

Language – English is one of four official languages
Weather – year-round warm and humid

Singapore is known for its devotion to impeccable cleanliness. There are lots of regulations and rules to keep this country well-kept. So if you are planning a visit, here are some of the laws you should be aware of. There are fines for vandalism, chewing gum, smoking in public places, littering, spitting on the ground, jaywalking, eating and drinking in trains and stations. Breaking the rules will cost up to S$500.

Points of interest:

Singapore Flyer – it is the largest observation wheel in the world, its height is 165 meters.

Marina Bay Sands – the most notable landmark is a home to a huge complex with a hotel (2,560 rooms available), casino, shopping outlets, restaurants to name just a few and the most stunning swimming pool on the rooftop. The 150-meter pool in a shape of a ship sits 200 meters in the sky and from the right angle it looks like a person standing at the end might fall down of the building. Swimming in the pool is for hotel guests only but anyone can access the SkyPark, the observation deck, for S$20 to take pictures of the pool. When I saw a video of the infinite pool on youtube and couldn’t wait to experience it for myself. So no wonder when I was planning a trip to Singapore I knew this thrilling swimming experience will be the absolute highlight. I was right. The hotel rate starts at S$400 per night and to me it is 2 in 1 – a life time experience and decent accommodation for two. So I think the pricing is quite reasonable. I mean everything depends on priorities and perspective. My philosophy is: the attractions are built/invented for us to try them, not just look at them 🙂 btw. I don’t spend money on cigarettes, alcohol, drugs, tattoo or 50 pairs of shoes.

St. Andrew’s Cathedral – is the largest and first Anglican Church in Singapore.

I must admit, visiting theme parks are not on my priory list while overseas, but why not to take part from now and then. The theme park is made up of seven distinct zones, each with a theme related to movies.
